"Giorgio by Moroder" is the third track by Daft Punk from the album Random Access Memories. Its length is 9:04.

Background[]

It was first reported that Giorgio Moroder was recording a "rap" for Daft Punk. When Moroder arrived in the studio to record his monologue, he was initially confused that the booth contained multiple microphones and asked if they were precaution in case one of the microphones broke. The recording engineer explained that the microphones varied with origin dates that ranged from the 1960s to the 21st century, and that each microphone would be used to represent the different decades in Moroder's life.[1] The engineer added that although most listeners would not be able to distinguish between each microphone, Thomas Bangalter would know the difference.[2] The difference in audio quality is able to be heard on the final track.

Daft Punk did not want to use stock audio samples for the album, so they recorded new sound effects with the help of professional foley artists from Warner Bros. They produced the sounds of a busy restaurant by placing microphones in front of a group of people using forks.[3]

"The R. A. M. Interview"[]

The full interview featured on the song was released on a 10-inch vinyl included in the deluxe box set of the album. One side includes Part 1 with a duration of 12 minutes and 59 seconds, and the other side with Part 2 with a duration of 13 minutes and 23 seconds; as a total it is 26 minutes and 22 seconds.[4]

The sticker on the vinyl mark the date of the interview November 23 & 24, 2011.
