  • Hello Gwtv!
My name is KRTR, i'm the admin on the EDM Wiki and was wondering if you would want to consider a partnership.  I was thinking a mutual support system where you contribute to articles on my wiki and I help out with articles on yours.  Let me know your thoughts.

  • Hey Gwtv,

Been a while, how's it going? I've been really inactive due to various other ongoing projects, but I am back. I noticed you've been editing again :)

Hopefully we should see some activity from the robots soon, but for now I'm just going to go through as you are doing and dig out some old stuff and just check to make things are in order, I've noticed that you've been dealing with some 'questionable' edits whilst I've been gone, thanks so much for that, and I apologise for my unexplained absence, it's just we haven't seen any activity from the guys in a while

    • Hey What's up! Yeah, long time hehe, I came back after hearing The Weeknd collaborated with Guy-Man and just decided to have a look here!

About the "strange" edits, apparently it was someone or more people messing around other Wikis (not only these one), adding/removing information.

No worries, I had the same thought and that's why I left the Wiki, just trying to give it a dust off from now and then.

      See you around!

  • Hello!

I've been meaning to send this message a couple weeks ago, but I never managed to finish typing my message as I'd keep drawing out the message longer and longer. Here's a shorter one instead:

I am a content moderator for this wiki brought on by ReTopic. As to not just idle with these rights, I was wondering if there's any maintenance tasks that this wiki needs assistance with? Anything of priority? Otherwise, I'll just try to get around to working on the wiki generated maintenance reports in Special:SpecialPages soon.

PS – I noticed that you have recently blocked an IP range. Was it due to these edits? They seem to be good faith edits– Leiji Matsumoto apparently was involved with the production of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. It's just that they neglected to add any meaningful content when they created the page. I retract my previous observation, just noticed their other questionable contributions. :P

  • Hello there, I want to inform you that this IP's contributions seems to be removing contents from pages which seems likely a vandalism to me, could you review their contributions and decide if any necessary action required? Thanks

      Loading editor
    • Hello! Yes, apparently most of his actions were reverting pages to a very old state, removing content, and changing the format. I blocked the IP for 6 months, is there any other action it needs to be taken? Thanks for the help!

        Loading editor
    • Hey, there's no any other action required anymore. You're welcome and thanks for blocking them! Happy to help out!

  • So I currently have the vinyl of Robot Rock and theres a track on the B side called "Rockapella". I don't have a vinyl player yet but I was just wondering, what is Rockapella like?

      Loading editor
    • I just checked Discogs and honestly I have never noticed the vinyl has that song, going to search the internet for a demo or some sort of thing.

EDIT: Just had my wondering on Google and found this thread in The Daft Club Forum about the track: [1]
The track is pretty much what it sounds like, a 2-minute non-stop vocal repetition of "Rock, robot rock". It was most probably made so mixes can be made and so people can work with it.

  • Hey again,

Been a while since we talked. Could you do me a favour and add Staff to the top bar, possibly next to Forums. I'd do it myself but I haven't got a lot of spare time at the moment.

    Thanks!

  • Thank you for editing my pages :) As you can see I'm willing to do the writing and fact gathering but I have never worked on a Wiki page and formatting is not my strong suit. Hopefully the more I work on it, the better I'll get!

    • Hey Shetan1992!
On the contrary, thanks to you very much for helping to improve the Wiki! :) I've seen that you've been editing constantly, and right now we really needed a hand in here.

The formatting is something really important to have things better organized, and also to keep articles connected with each other so there is a way to people to navigate around them. As you said, working on them is a very good way to learn about it (that's how I did it hehe).

Don't worry if you don't make them correctly, I can help you to keep them right on track ! :)

If you have any questions about formatting, how to use certain tools or infoboxes, templates, etc., leave a message in my wall or in Retopic's wall. We will be glad to help!

  • Hey! I'll try to be a good contributor to this website! I know a bit about Daft Punk and I could probably do some here and there

  • Just look at the Wiki Daft Punk's main page and then look the calendar. Hear the jingle bells? It's Christmas, my friend!

Well, now that I've spent the best opening I ever had, I'm going to notice you what you read at the title of this thread. Yes, another update, but of the best ones until now! Powered in part by Lua (now available in all Wikias) and with it's style hosted in the wiki's CSS file, this makes the main page download faster but add to it more functions. For example, on every December 24th, 25th and 31st from now the main page can change it's colors automatically! Also, I simplified some code, and the version for this wiki will have an exclusive feature: the welcome header ({{Main page/Top}}) will have a links bar to offer to the new visitors some important links to start navigating and to comply with the actual Parent Pages policy adding the respective link (this last feature available to view in my sandbox).

Hope you like this new update. Merry Christmas! Remiaw (talk) 16:27, December 24, 2014 (UTC)

PD: If you read this message after Dec 25th, don't worry, I can make a temporal demonstration for you.

  • Hey! Hi again! Do you remeber I promised you a new main page for the wiki? A few minutes ago I finished to work on importing the styles. Now the new version is ready... well, almost. We have to consider two things:

    1. The text images such as File:Videos.png are not formerly compatible with the new version by two reasons. The first is their size but mainly their proportion — they have too much space between the edge of the image and the font, making non-practical to put these without problems with the sizes of the boxes (.div or .table) or making the text extremely small. The second is their color. Taking in mind that Daft Wiki will be visited also in mobile phones and the Wikia interface in all wikias has white background, the text of the image is impossible to read. All this has solution by modifying the images. But the second thing can be fixed without changing the color of the images by modifying the CSS or discussing about the white backgrounds with the staff. I also note that all background color properties in all HTML elements are set to transparent to fit the white background.
    2. Before moving this new version to the main page, I have to "package" some of its code into interactive templates that will go in the main page. What is this? Look what I did on the Spanish main page. The things that must not be modified will be transcluded direct and safely into the main page, and the things that may be updated frequently will appear in the source code of the main page as parameters of some templates, so if we have to update news or the Poll then we can do it without touching accidentally any essential style code. With all this I also mean that some templates that actually make part of the main page may be updated.

Well, the point is that you can now see the final result here:

I hope that you like this new update. Remember that anything you want to change to the new design you can tell it to me, that I'll improve it quickly. However, I made sure that it's updated to the last, and I always take a look into your sandbox to see if you added something new that I can use to improve the things I make, of course because these are for everybody. I'm still working on the new template at the footer of the articles and a simplified JavaScript code for collapsible tables.

Well, that's everything... for now. Happily, Remiaw (talk) 04:22, August 2, 2014 (UTC).

    • Yes. As you can see, some section templates have parameters to fill. These have been designed for being updated frequently, or easy when need to correct something quickly. You can look the "Contenido destacado" section in the Spanish main page, in source mode, and look into the History of the page or the Wiki Activity to know what I'm talking about.

      There are some examples:

      • Headers: they're included into the code of the sections' templates. However, if you want to add a new, simple section, just use it. It's syntax is:
      {{Main page/Header| <title> |class= <class (by default "1")> }}
      • Listen section: this have a peculiarity — you can change it's image from the main page source code, but not the streaming song.

All the rest is editable from the template's page, for now. If you have an idea for more sections, just to try this concept, let's do it!

        Loading editor
    • Ah, I see now! It is quite simple now that I look at it in that way.

About the Listen section, it uses the HTML tag <verbatim>, which is used to incorporate embed codes into the wiki. In this case, the tag is used in the page MediaWiki:SP. In order to edit the streaming song, you need to edit the code in that page.

I saw the Actividad reciente page in the Spanish wiki, and I think this is a perfect moment to say that I saw that you're going to add social widgets, so the tag might come really handy!
