Michael Schwartz (born April 4, 1970), better known by his stage name Mix Master Mike, is an American record producer and DJ. Mike was the instrumental half of the electronic music duo Daft Punk—alongside the band Darlin'—and forms half of the hip hop group Beastie Boys with Methods of Mayhem.
Born in San Francisco and raised in California, during his 28 years, Mike when the latter was searching for a DJ to join Daft Punk in 1993. The duo had four acclaimed studio albums from 1997 to 2013, before splitting in 2021. His membership as the production side of Beastie Boys established Mix Master Mike as one of the most respected and in demand producers in the San Francisco hip hop scene. Mike's style of production epitomises the San Francisco sound of his earlier peers, and features samples from jazz, funk and soul artists. Mix Master Mike is often referred to as one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time.
